The Marine Recruit Depot in San Diego CA trains half of all US Marines. This facility, in
association with the US Department of Defense Environmental Demonstration and
Validation Program, is demonstrating the integration of a 10,000 gpd Living Machine
sewer minning project to tap into existing wastewater sewers to provide irrigation
water for the base. The Living Machine treatment system is being incorporated into a
memorial for fallen marines. Construction should be completed in Spring of 2011.
