The Majority of the wastewater treatment takes place in the Tidal Wetland Living Machine® System located inside a greenhouse constructed as part of a new science building. The overall Wetland system consists of 6 planted wetland cells in watertight basins. Four of the six cells are used as the Main Treatment Cells and the remaining two function as the Polishing cells. The main treatment cells are designed to remove a majority of the BOD coming from the settling compartment. The Polishing cells follow the Main Tidal Wetland Cells and remove remaining organic material, ammonia and TSS. The treated effluent will be used in a reclaimed system for  toliet flushing and other apporved non-potable uses in the new science building.
